Fishing hut 4.0

MIXING THE NATURAL WITH THE HUMAN, THE SCULPTURAL WITH THE FUNCTIONAL, THE ARCHITECTURE WITH THE LANDSCAPE.

The project of a hotel and club building ´Fishing hut 4.0´ designed in the form of a bridge connecting the bank of a pond with an island in its centre is an attempt to create a distinct landscape form, a kind of sculpture with a hotel and club function hidden inside. Working with mixing the natural with the human, the sculptural with the functional, the architecture with the landscape are the most important issues and goals of the work.
The building structure is steel. Facades and roof with surface treatment of bitumen strips glued to extruded polystyrene foam (XPS). The shape of the surfaces will be created using a five-dimensional CNC machine, which will significantly save time and material. On the north side, the building will be covered by a perimeter wall on a steel structure, finished with horizontal burnt veneer planks.

A SEARCH FOR A NEW FORM OF HOUSING

The floating hut project is the result of a search for a new form of housing in spaces where classical buildings permanently fixed to the ground are not possible. Minimisation of living space, high independence from energy suppliers, possibility of moving the house are the main issues and goals connected with this project. Working with the building’s reflection in the water is the author’s way of questioning the classical relationship between architectural form and function.
The building will function as a single-family vacation home. The material design is based on the structural requirements of boat buildings. The functional division of the outer parts of the building (two independent terraces) solves the safety issues in case of anchoring the houseboat to the publicly accessible shore.
